When I was a teen, my parents had this strange rule that I always had to drive alone unless I had special permission.  Turns out, they were not nuts after all.  Risks for crashes are very high in the first 500 miles after a teen acquires their license, and they increase with each teen passenger in the car.

The Omaha World-Herald (registration req’d) offers some sage advice for parents who are working with a new teen driver.  Putting certain guidelines in place may make their journey safer - and offer more peace for Mom and Dad.
