Babyzone has an article that highlights a book and some research studies indicating that we increase certain brain functions after having kids.  Many women feel self-concious about being forgetful or seemingly absent-minded after becoming moms, but much of this is due to sleep deprivation and the added stress of learning new information quickly.  One study indicated that people generally view pregnant women as less competent, even when all other factors are equal.  It seems we could all benefit from some additional knowledge and understanding of how parenting affects our bodies and minds.
