A recently released study survey by completed by ACT, a nonprofit educational and testing organization says no.  And the gap exists in virtually every college-preparatory subject.

Something interesting to note is that a common complaint of college faculty is that freshmen do not know how to compose a complete sentence.  Colleges would like to have high schools place more emphasis on fundamentals, according to the survey.
