Interesting research starts to explain why infants and young toddlers cannot seem to hit or catch balls you throw to them - especially if they are thrown slowly.
An article in Science Daily previews upcoming research into visual perception in very young children. One of their findings is that children have difficulty sensing slow motion and that parents tend to compensate for junior’s inability to catch that ball by throwing the ball even s-l-o-w-e-r, increasing the difficulty junior has in catching it.
The solution? Give junior a fast(er) one straight down the middle.
