Fluoride is neither a nutrient nor required for healthy teeth. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control tells us that ingesting fluoride has no beneficial effects. Fluoride absorbs into teeth topically to make enamel harder. However, ingested fluoride does deliver adverse effects such as dental fluorosis - white spotted, yellow or brown and sometimes crumbly permanent teeth.
It’s better to avoid all obvious sources of fluoride since fluoride is “hidden” in so many foods such as ready-to-feed formula, chicken baby foods, ocean fish, tea, formed chicken products such as Chicken McNuggets, grape juice and virtually all food.
